| My turn to make one of these posts... :-/ 6:15, crawling on the beltway, four lanes of brake lights... I'm in the
right lane, about a quarter mile from my exit when BAM! I'm still in disbelief over the amount of damage that can occur at such a
low speed. It was a white Ford Econoline van, and the guy said his foot
slipped off the pedal. I'm thinking maybe it slipped onto the accelerator,
because I swear traffic was moving at about 3 mph.

were good and cracked, but despite the destruction surrounding them,
they seem to have escaped with only this on the driver's side: 
I reported it to my insurance company last night and am waiting for an
appointment to get the damage appraised. Doesn't look cheap - I'm
thinking the whole rear piece of metal needs to be replaced because it's
all torqued out of alignment with the hatch. Anything in particular I need to be aware of when I go to get the work
done?
